An Introduction to Exeter

So hello y'all who are still in the beautiful land of Cymru.

I have been a busy bee the last few days, settling in.

It feels like I've been here for SOOOOOOOO long but it has actually been 5 days. I am loving it here. I know I'm not really experiencing uni life properly yet as lectures don't start until Monday, but everything else is great.

My flatmates are fantastic, lovely people. I feel like I have known them all for months rather than days. There is Hannah who is doing Sport Science and therefore the only one of us who is near her campus.
There are 2 campuses here, St. Luke's where I live, and the main one Streatham, where I am actually studying. Streatham is a 40 min walk or a 25 min bus ride. I am thinking which route I take shall entirely depend on the weather and finance.

I also have Amy living here, who is the sweetest girl you will ever meet, she is just incredibly adorable. She is doing Psychology.

Then there is Sahra. She is doing Radiology. She has yet to come completely out of the box methinks.

We also have an exchange student from China called Ying living with us. She only moved in yesterday, and I get the felling we will not be seeing her a lot. Her twin sister is living in the house opposite us, and they seem to be sticking together. Which is kind of sweet.

I have been out in some capacity or other every night so far and I am absolutely shattered lol.
First night, I went to X-keys, which is the St. Luke's student bar, and met MANY people, very few of whom I can remember the names of. Second night was Arena with Xanthe, which is the club that all the St. Luke's people go to. I am known as a mongrel as I live on one campus and study on the other. Me, Amy and Sahra are all mongrels. We love it so. Hannah is a Lukie and Xanthe is a Jiff as she is a Streatham person.

Third night was Mosaic, which is a club more in the middle of town, but it wasn't great, and we all came home about half midnight. We were meant to go to Arena that night, but it got full extremely fast, so we just went to Mosaic instead.

Night number 4 was Arena again, with a Safari theme, which was interesting. I failed rather on an outfit, ending up with a black top and black skirt with a white waist belt and claimed to be a zebra. Lewis drove down that night and so I left about half 12 again so I could go and meet him. The girls came back about an hour later due to tiredness.

Night number 5 (last night) was quite quiet, and we went to "The Old Fire House" for pizza and drinks, as it had been pointed out to us by our welcome week reps. It was VERY nice pizza :) and the girls were very impressed by how much me and Lewis ate lol. We are such pigs.

That was not my pizza, as I am veggie now, but that is the size of what me and Lewis ate. Each. We felt so fat :D

Tonight, we are planning on going to see a hypnotist in X-keys, which should be a laugh :)

I feel like I should also mention a couple of my Welcome Week reps. There are 3 that are particularly my/our friends. The first is Sarah. She is a second-year French student (one thing in common) who is from the the Brad (2 things in common) and played in County Wind Band for years with me (3 things in common). I'd never actually spoken to her, but I knew as soon as I saw her that I knew her from somewhere. She went Lewis Girls and is really lovely and has been really helpful with stuff about my course.

The other 2 are Ewan and Biscuits. There is a story behind why he is Biscuits but I cannot remember it. Biscuits is a third year and Ewan is a second-year. You may be able to guess by the name that Ewan is another Welshie. I am collecting them :D

Biscuits seems quite keen on Amy and Ewan is very keen on Hannah so we have seen a LOT of them. Like, seen them every day. They have come to our flat to play cards etc. But they are really nice so I don't mind.

Ewan is first language Welsh, second language Catalan and third language English, so I've found that very fascinating and gone a little crazy over the Catalan. Minority languages are just so fascinating and fantastic.

So there we have it. A not so short summary of the last few days. Lewis left an hour or 2 ago which made me sad :( I do miss him when he's away. He's planning on coming back next week though, so that is something to look forward to. As is lectures starting :s

I am looking forward to Welcome Week being over, I'll be honest, and just getting down to routine and stuff.

Hope to be hearing from you all soon

xxxxx

  1. I have several thoughts =]:

So many of my flatmates have boy/girlfiends at home...they are always on their phones to them!

Also, it seems really weird reading a blog of yours which has no emotion in it :L

    You're a veggie now?

And wow, the people you've met are hot too 8-|

  2. I KNOW!!!! Xanthe didn't think they were that hot...I disagree :L

I am being good and only phoning when I have come home at night, so I am not being anti-social. And I am the only one with a bf in my flat

And yes, I decided to be veggie once my mum had stopped cooking for me so as not to hassle her with making extra food.

I apologise for the lack of emotion, next blog will make you cry :P

  3. I didn't say they weren't hot I said I expected more. You rather bigged them up lol.
You've basically only hit arena :O. You have to try Time piece and Rococo's as well. They are alright. Rococo's does amazingly cheap drinks.

Do you have freshers flue? I totally do :S. Fucking drinking lol.
